전치사 during과 접속사 while의 구조 및 품사 차이 대조표입니다.
during + 명사 (전치사: ~동안)

while + 주어 + 동사 (접속사: ~하는 동안)

A. during + 명사 (전치사 ~동안)
during은 전치사이므로 뒤에 명사(기간/행사)가 위치하며 '그 기간 동안'을 뜻합니다.
I fell asleep during the film. (not while the film)
나는 영화가 상영되는 동안 잠이 들었습니다.
We met a lot of interesting people during our holiday.
우리는 휴가 동안 많은 흥미로운 사람들을 만났습니다.
It rained heavily during the night.

B. while + 주어 + 동사 (접속사 ~하는 동안)
while은 접속사이므로 뒤에 [주어 + 동사] 절이 수반됩니다.
I fell asleep while I was watching TV.
나는 TV를 보고 있던 동안 잠이 들었습니다.
We met a lot of interesting people while we were on holiday.
우리가 휴가를 즐기고 있던 동안 많은 사람들을 만났습니다.
The phone rang while I was having a shower.

C. before / after 의 자유로운 품사 활용 (+ 명사 / + -ing / + 절)
before와 after는 전치사와 접속사 역할을 모두 수행할 수 있어 명사, -ing동명사, 절이 다 올 수 있습니다.

식사 전에는 항상 손을 씻으세요.
