A. give up (그만두다/포기하다) / throw away (버리다)
습관이나 노력을 그만둘 때는 give up, 쓰레기나 불필요한 것을 버릴 때는 throw away.
I decided to give up smoking.
나는 담배를 끊기로(그만두기로) 결심했습니다.
Don't give up! You can do it.
포기하지 마세요! 할 수 있습니다.
Don't throw away that magazine. I want to read it.

B. put off (연기하다) / call off (취소하다)
일정을 나중으로 미룰 때는 put off, 예정된 행사를 전면 취소할 때는 call off를 씁니다.

They put off the meeting until next week.
