A. a lot of / lots of (모든 명사의 긍정문)
가산 복수 명사와 불가산 명사 모두의 긍정문에 두루 쓰입니다.
We bought a lot of food. (uncountable)
우리는 음식을 많이 샀습니다.
There are a lot of trees in the park. (countable plural)
공원에 나무가 많이 있습니다.
Lots of people play tennis.

B. much vs many 의 구분
much는 셀 수 없는 명사(불가산)의 부정문/의문문에 쓰이고, many는 셀 수 있는 복수 명사에 쓰입니다.
Did you buy much food? - No, not much.
음식 많이 샀니? - 아니, 많이 안 샀어.
Have you got many friends? - Yes, a lot.
친구 많이 있니? - 응, 많아.
