비교급 구문 (comparative + than) 구조
비교대상 두 개를 연결하는 than 어순 및 수식 부사(a bit / much) 결합표입니다.
비교급 + than (~보다 더)
- •Athens is older than Rome.
- •Hotels are more expensive than hostels.
비교급 강조 (a bit / much)
- •a bit older than (약간 더)
- •much more expensive than (훨씬 더)
A. comparative + than 구문 기본 어순
두 대상을 비교하여 한쪽이 다른 쪽보다 '더 ~하다'고 말할 때 비교급 뒤에 than을 붙입니다.
Athens is older than Rome.
아테네는 로마보다 더 오래되었습니다.
Are you taller than your brother?
당신은 당신 형보다 키가 더 크신가요?
Hotels are more expensive than youth hostels.
호텔은 유스호스텔보다 더 비쌉니다.

B. 비교급 수식 부사 (a bit / a little / much)
비교급 앞에 a bit(약간)이나 much(훨씬)를 붙여 차이의 정도를 강조합니다.
Canada is much bigger than France.
캐나다는 프랑스보다 훨씬 더 큽니다.
This bag is a bit heavier than that one.
이 가방은 저 가방보다 약간 더 무겁습니다.
Her job is much more interesting than mine.
그녀의 직업은 내 직업보다 훨씬 더 흥미롭습니다.
I feel a bit better today.
오늘 기분이 약간 더 좋아졌습니다.
C. 대명사 목적격 (than me / than him)
than 뒤에 대명사가 올 때는 목적격(me, him, her, them)을 쓰거나 [주격 + 동사]를 씁니다.
You are taller than me. (= taller than I am)
당신은 나보다 키가 더 큽니다.
He arrived earlier than her. (= earlier than she did)
그는 그녀보다 더 일찍 도착했습니다.
They worked harder than us. (= harder than we did)
